cuekards

How cuekards works

  1. Paste your script, or load a Google Doc. A Google Doc has to be link-shared, and Refresh re-fetches it, so you can keep editing while you film. Notes in [square brackets] and lines starting with # are shown but never read.
  2. Pick your camera and microphone in Settings. cuekards opens the microphone once and shares it between the recording and the prompter, so nothing fights over the device.
  3. Put the prompter full screen on the monitor beside your lens. The line you are on stays at a fixed anchor and the script scrolls beneath it, so your eyeline does not move.
  4. Download the speech model if you want the prompter to follow your voice.optional Without it the prompter still works: scroll it yourself, or set a constant speed.
  5. Press Record and wait out the countdown. The countdown gives you three seconds to get back into frame.
  6. Read. Pause whenever you like. Pause and resume as often as you want — it is one continuous file at the end.
  7. Press Stop and choose where to save the file. The take is named after your script and the time you shot it.

Everything happens in this tab. Your audio, your video and the recognised speech never leave your machine. Read the whole privacy claim
